LAS VEGAS -- 2011 International CES -- As expected, Verizon Wireless unveiled 10 LTE consumer devices here at the show, adding device meat to its existing service bones.
But the operator didn't give any clues about its gadget pricing plans, or potential data caps, during its Thursday press conference.
The LTE device haul includes four smart phones, two tablets, two notebooks and two mobile hot spots/routers:
The operator, however, isn't yet revealing any device prices, and hasn't indicated whether it will to introduce any data capped prices with some of the units. "We're going to continue to look at that. Caps may make sense at some point in time," said Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead.
Why this matters
With this portfolio update, Verizon has drastically increased the number of devices that will soon be available to consumers on its LTE network. By the spring, consumers should have more choice in devices with all 10 out by early summer, compared to the two USB modems available now. In short, the portfolio could start to show how popular the 4G network will be with users.
